Investigative Case-Based Learning :  

Teaching Science While Developing 21st Century Competencies

Monday, 16 March – Tuesday, 17 March, 2015

Cases encourage students to begin exploring science collaboratively. The use of realistic problems in the classroom helps promote the development of 21st century competencies such as applying concepts to daily life, asking questions, solving problems, using information technology, collaborating, and communicating.

This workshop course is designed to:

1. Introduce teachers to the ICBL approach for teaching primary level science, aligned with the 2014 MOE Science Syllabus Primary.

2. Illustrate the use of investigations, models, online resources and demonstrations linked to the cases.

3. Demonstrate how using cases help to develop 21st century competencies and science literacy through student questions, explorations, and final products.

4. Support teachers in the design, implementation, and assessment of an ICBL module.
